Which bridle do I want for my horse? Today there is a huge range of options, and it is precisely thoughtful riders, for whom the horse's wellbeing matters greatly, who often feel unsettled by this topic.

As lovers of the classic Spanish-baroque riding style, we at Iberosattel® are probably to be found more in the traditional camp. We generally ride with a snaffle bridle - because the bit is simply an integral part of this riding culture. Unlike the English riding style, where riding is done in so-called permanent contact, in the classical riding style the reins only exert momentary pressure on the bit. Its use is at the rider's discretion (and becomes rarer as skill increases) - but when it really matters, the pinpoint efficiency of this means of communication is hardly to be surpassed.
 
The traditional training bridle of the classical Spanish-baroque riding style is the bitless cavesson. With this bridle, the effect is applied via a so-called noseband bar - a one- or multi-part metal bar to which a lead rope, lunge line or reins are attached and which exerts dosed pressure on the nose region. Doing without the bit is helpful for inexperienced horses; but you should know that a sharp, painful effect is also possible via the noseband bar. The cavesson is suitable for groundwork and - if you know what you are doing - also for bitless riding.

In our shop you will find a selection of snaffle bridles including reins – exceptional Spanish Vaquero bridles (the ones with the "forehead fringes" made of leather) and beautifully decorated Portuguese bridles with metal fittings and elaborate backing work, which show off an expressive horse's head in an especially elegant way.
 
We also offer a well-proven leather cavesson. It has a multi-part, softly padded noseband bar, is made in Germany (just like our premium Vaquero bridle), and is available in two sizes (Full and Cob).
