Felt Saddle Pads by Iberosattel® - Classics Made from Pure Wool Felt
Wool felt brings the ideal properties for a saddle pad as a material. It is not without reason that sheep's wool and felt are among the traditionally used materials for saddle blankets and saddle pads in many riding cultures.
At Iberosattel® we offer an extensive premium collection of high-quality pure wool felt saddle pads.

A Great Climate Under the Saddle
Wool felt is a pure natural material. The felt used in our saddle pads is pure fulled sheep's wool, free from chemicals and undyed, natural white. Many great properties of wool felt come together as they do in hardly any other material:
Felt made from sheep's wool also has excellent mechanical properties for a saddle pad: the material is incredibly robust, tear-resistant, with very good cushioning properties. And yet flexible in shape. Initially still a little stiff, the felt saddle pad adapts, like a good pair of shoes, precisely to the shape of the horse's back after a “breaking-in period”. No wrinkling, no slipping - a wool felt saddle pad sits under the saddle like a second skin.
- Sheep's wool lets water bead off (unless it's pouring buckets), but lets water vapour pass through, so it always stays nice and dry on the inside.
- Sheep's wool fibres can absorb large amounts of moisture when needed, without feeling damp
- Sheep's wool warms in winter and cools in summer
- Sheep's wool has an antibacterial effect
- Sheep's wool is antistatic
- Sheep's wool has mechanical and chemical self-cleaning abilities that border on the magical: dust and dirt stay loosely on the surface and are therefore easy to brush off, odours are neutralised by the fibres

Washable Saddle Pad – Bring on the Felt!
What's more, a felt saddle pad is washable – unlike saddle pads made from cotton. Yet it is still breathable and skin-friendly. Of course, a felt saddle pad isn't quite the same as a washable saddle pad made from synthetic material. But you will be surprised how dirt-repellent wool felt is and how easy it is to simply wipe or brush off the dirt from the arena, forest or meadow.
Our Felt Saddle Pads: Well Thought-Out and Made with Attention to Detail
It's hard to improve on this much natural quality. But we tried – and as passionate riders and horse lovers ourselves, we would buy exactly the kind of felt saddle pad we have designed.
We use a particularly high-quality, 3 - 8 millimetre thick felt for our saddle pads. In the area of the spinal channel, we have fitted them with extra stitching for more spinal freedom under the saddle. On the outside, where the riding boots touch the saddle pad, we have attached cowhide leather appliqués to prevent wear and ensure better leg grip. In addition, in the spirit of Spanish and baroque riding, we have decorated the Iberosattel® felt saddle pads with an elaborately crafted woven trim and a braided band. So that you can also be seen with this fine piece where a certain “dress code” is required. And because it simply looks beautiful.
