Thanks to their generous dimensions, you can get in and out very easily – no fishing around with your feet, less chance of getting caught. The wide, profiled tread offers comfortable, non-slip support for your feet and is a real blessing, especially on long trail and endurance rides and for slightly worn joints.

Some call them iberian stirrups. Others Portuguese or Spanish stirrups. They are also referred to as baroque stirrups or ornate stirrups. In any case, they are solid, all-metal stirrups in silver or gold, with more or less elaborate decoration and a profiled, usually fairly wide tread. Modern times have many comforts. Our world is shaped by new materials and technologies, and our lives have hardly anything to do with those of our ancestors any more. Sometimes something seems to be missing. Beauty. The connection with nature. Real, handmade things. Some of us use our prosperity to preserve or reclaim something of the old world: old houses; objects and cultural techniques of the past. Horse enthusiasts have devoted themselves to the ancient culture of riding - actually obsolete in our motorised society - often heart and soul.

And on the other hand, there are the purists.

The aesthetes who want to reproduce the classic look of a traditional riding style as authentically as possible. For them, it's a matter of respect. Besides, it simply looks great. The purist faction includes not only most Western riders, but also aficionados of Spanish and baroque riding. • The Iberian Stirrup Pacho comes plain and without frills in bare stainless steel, with a large round tread. Want to know why the stirrups have these openings in the lower part? – A small strap can be threaded through here to tie the stirrups up to the saddle when not in use.

 

• The Iberian Stirrup Destinado – it was destiny! Our Destinado stirrup is a little more delicate than the Pacho, has an oval tread with a decoratively wavy surface for very good foot support, and also comes with stirrup openings for tying up to the saddle.
