"Dear Ibero-Sattel team,
after my own horse unfortunately became unrideable due to ataxia, I was given a 10-year-old Pinto Arabian at the start of the year. It quickly became clear that saddling him wouldn't be easy. Short-backed, barrel-shaped, a lot of swing in the back, huge shoulders, and on top of that a price limit. I asked 4 saddle fitters/saddlers; at first they all said no problem, just send photos. 3 companies never got back to me, and only one saddler told me that with her range she couldn't manage it within a price bracket of up to max. 2,300.
I first became aware of Iberosattel® through a test in the magazine "Mein Pferd"; the panels/bearing surface in particular had already caught my eye back then. However, I found the prices for the premium saddles pretty steep ... ;-) Without getting my hopes up too much, I requested brochure material at the beginning of April 2020, which arrived very quickly, complete with a business card and the contact responsible for my region! Great!
After looking through the beautifully put-together folder, I really wanted to try it out and got in touch with Simone Garnreiter. Despite the Covid crisis I got an appointment very quickly, and Simone said on the phone that we'd need about 3 hours. My first thought was: "What on earth is this woman going to do for 3 hours?" We fairly quickly settled on 2 models, the "Sevilla Classic" (visually I thought "oh dear, that border, and then on a piebald") and the "Royal Classic Plus", which looked like a proper saddle to me and which I immediately favoured.
Simone advised me wonderfully, objectively, with a lot of love for the horse and the product. She managed to get me to reconsider my point of view, and I was able to take her tips and advice on board really well. I got a riding lesson that was a lot of fun, but also pointed out my mistakes seriously. All of that without wagging a finger. Fairly soon I could feel that Shareef moved beautifully in the Sevilla Classic. I also tried the Royal Classic, but I liked the Sevilla much better, and Shareef visibly relaxed too.
However, I couldn't spend 2,700 euros on a horse I don't even know will stay healthy and which doesn't belong to me. Simone Garnreiter clearly noticed my hesitation, but wanted to help me get this saddle anyway. She mentioned that 2 saddles had come back with a leather flaw, and Iberosattel® would give a 15% discount on one of them. That settled the purchase.
