The VFD, Vereinigung der Freizeitreiter und -fahrer Deutschland e.V. (Association of Leisure Riders and Drivers Germany), was originally founded primarily with the aim of protecting and expanding riders' right of access to nature and forest. The association is the advocacy group for German trail riders and now comprises a network of regional associations as well as working groups that address various topics relating to leisure sports with horses.
German Trail Riding Academy
The German Trail Riding Academy has developed a training programme for trail riders. It works together with various training providers where beginners and other curious riders can acquire the knowledge and skills needed for trail riding in compact courses, go on instructional trail rides, and even train to become trail ride guides.
