Working Equitation Tournaments
Some events are also part of overarching cups or trophies. These include the Mittelerde Worker Cup, with tournaments in Dülmen, Leverkusen, Hagerhof and Wesel, and the Rhein-Main Gurbe Trophy, with events in Nordheim and Lorsch.
The German Working Equitation Championship
The German Working Equitation Championship “moves” between different host locations. For two years it took place as part of the EQUITANA Open Air horse fair in Mannheim, in 2023 the host location was Neu-Anspach in the Taunus, and in 2024 Wingst in Lower Saxony.
Selection and Qualification Tournaments
Special attention is paid to the selection and qualification tournaments organised annually by WED: here, riders compete who have set their sights on international honours. The next stop on the road to world fame is then the European Championship organised by WAWE.

Among the most important, regularly held Working Equitation tournaments in Germany are:
- Working Equitation Münsterland Cup: This tournament is held at the RV Dülmen riding facility and regularly attracts participants across various performance classes. It is an important part of the Mittelerde Worker Cup, a series of tournaments held in the region.
- Pferd International, Munich: As a fixed part of the Messe München programme, this tournament offers a platform for exciting Working Equitation competitions. It attracts a large number of spectators and participants every year and is known for its high competitive quality.
- Worker Weekend Offenthal – Gaited Working Equitation Tournament: Specially designed for gaited horses and organised by Pferdefreunde Offenthal, this tournament offers a unique opportunity for owners of gaited horses to compete in an environment tailored to their needs.
- Taunus Working Equitation Tournament: This annual tournament gives participants the opportunity to compete in higher classes up to WS*, including disciplines involving cattle work. It is known for its demanding courses and attracts many top riders.
- Working Equitation Tournament PSV Freystadt: The tournament organised by PSV Freystadt offers a wide range of classes and includes cattle training under tournament conditions. It is particularly popular among riders who want to test their skills in a competitive environment.
- Wintermühlen Trophy: As one of the largest tournaments in the field of Working Equitation, the Wintermühlen Trophy is held at the Wintermühle and offers tests up to class WS. The inclusion of cattle work makes it particularly demanding and attractive for experienced riders.
- German Championship Working Equitation: The annual German Championship provides a platform for the best German Working Equitation riders to demonstrate their skills. The event regularly changes its host location to offer a wide variety of challenges and conditions.
